Mr. Aawsaj graduated from Al-Kindy Medical College/ University of Baghdad in 2005. He was the first-ranked graduate in his graduation year; therefore, Mr Aawsaj was awarded a fully funded scholarship to complete his Master’s degree in the United Kingdom. Mr Aawsaj obtained his Master’s degree in Transfusion and Transplantation sciences from University of Bristol in 2009. He continued to show strong professional and academic ambitions in all of his following positions.
Mr Aawsaj started his career in surgery in the North East region in the United Kingdom. He worked in the various general surgical subspecialties. His main interest is minimal invasive surgery (laparoscopic and Robotic surgery in colorectal diseases). After finishing his training years, he started his sub-speciality fellowship in Liverpool in robotic and advanced colorectal surgery.
Mr. Aawsaj has published more than 12 papers in peered-reviewed journals, presented more than 30 presentations and recently obtained his second Master’s degree in Health Professions Education from Keele University showing his academic and education passion.
Mr. Aawsaj has performed more than 300 laparoscopic colorectal resections, more than 500 laparoscopic general surgical procedures and more than 1000 endoscopic procedures.
